Sustainability,
From sowing to milling, our aim is to be able to produce in a sustainable way, with careful sensitivity towards the field and the people.
Our sustainability report
In 2022, we launched our first Sustainability Report, putting our sustainability journey into writing.
This commitment was renewed in 2024 with the publication of our second Sustainability Report: a comprehensive collection of the latest achievements, future perspectives, and actions undertaken to drive our sustainable growth.
Concrete and responsible actions, both environmentally and socially, built upon four fundamental pillars: Agriculture, Territory, Responsibility, and Teamwork.
Today, we are proud to present our first Sustainability Report.
a wheat field
Our educational project, Adotta Un Campo di Grano (Adopt a Wheat Field), was launched in 2018 to share our passion for the land with primary school children and raise awareness about key topics such as agriculture, the supply chain, sustainability, and biodiversity.
Through hands-on experiences, meetings with experts, and interactive learning both in the field and in the classroom, we aim to bring younger generations closer to nature. They can explore how a grain of wheat grows from sowing and transforms into flour… always with the help of our mascot, Granino!
We teach children
how to care for the planet
Through this two-year journey (two stages per year), we actively engage children in learning about the key players in the milling supply chain and how we can work together to protect nature and biodiversity.
Are you interested in participating with your class in the project?
The Four Stages of the Project:
1.
Sowing
In November, children will get hands-on with the soil, sowing seeds by hand as it was done in the past with the traditional method, while also learning about modern sowing techniques.
2.
Biodiversity
In May, children will return to the fields to observe the growth of wheat and learn about the critical role of bees and biodiversity.
3.
The Grain
In February of the second year, children will attend a classroom session with the Crevalcore Center for Agriculture and Environment to study the wheat kernel.
4.
The Flour
The final stage takes place in May of the second year, where, after exploring the flour transformation process, children will grind wheat themselves and learn about the different types of flour.
Pivetti Green Energy:
our circular
economy project
Our sustainable vision has led us to take a significant step towards a circular economy: the investment in a biogas plant, Pivetti Green Energy.
Located near our mill in the province of Bologna, this plant was created with the goal of producing energy from the by-products of the Pivetti Holding, in an economical and environmentally friendly way, through the process of anaerobic digestion.
With this plant, we aim to establish a circular production cycle to minimize our environmental impact, reduce waste, and optimize resources effectively.
Molini Pivetti, the vision of a sustainable future
In this initial phase, Pivetti Green Energy produces electricity using up to 100 tons per year of by-products from wheat milling at Molini Pivetti, up to 1,500 tons per year of fruit waste from the processing activities of Macè, and other agricultural residues.
Our goal for the coming years is to optimize the use of production waste to minimize our reliance on traditional energy sources. By increasing the use of energy generated by our plant, we aim to create a greener and more sustainable future.
The Società Agricola Alberto e Marisa Pivetti
As farmers, we understand that knowing the land is essential to achieving excellent results. It requires a deep understanding of tradition, gained through experience, consistent practice, and hard work, a knowledge cultivated with passion for 150 years.
This passion led to the establishment of the Società Agricola Alberto e Marisa Pivetti in the 1970s, a farming company parallel to the milling business. Today, it cares for over 400 hectares of land using advanced farming techniques.
Cereal Crops
On over 350 hectares of Emilian land across the provinces of Bologna and Ferrara, we cultivate soft wheat, corn, sorghum, soybeans, rapeseed, sunflowers, and arugula.
Using both conventional and organic techniques and guided by expert agronomists, we achieve high-quality harvests with a strong focus on sustainability and biodiversity preservation.
This success is further enhanced by the digital monitoring of our supply chain through the platform developed by xFARM Technologies.
The Orchard
We passionately cultivate the Abate Fetel pear, the queen of pears in the Po Valley.
This distinctive variety, known for its unmistakable flavor, is used in the production of fruit juices by Macè, another subsidiary of the Pivetti Holding. Macè specializes in fourth-range fruit and fruit juices, processed with innovative technologies such as Pascalization (HPP).
The Vineyard
Our wine production is rooted in Radda in Chianti, a region blessed with an ideal microclimate for the traditional Chianti Classico.
Here, our vineyard blends harmoniously with over 70 hectares of woodland and Villa Campomaggio, a charming resort nestled in a village amid the verdant Chianti hills.
This extraordinary land offers the opportunity to explore the unexpected: a Pinot Noir crafted using the classic method.
