Adopt a wheat field

Adotta un campo di grano (Adopt a wheat field) is a project that was born in 2018 with the intention of introducing primary school children to caring for the planet.

Through online modules and, above all, through direct experiences “ON THE GROUND”, we want to bring the younger generation closer to nature, make them touch the earth, sow by scattering as in the past and listen to the buzzing of bees.

Our wish is to explain to them how we are trying to reorient food production to regenerate nature. Unfortunately, environmental resources are not infinite and we feel the need to pass on this value to future generations in the hope that they will be able to preserve it.

LET'S SEE HOW IT GOES

Les enfants prennent un champ de blé par la main, mais nous aussi les prenons par la main en les impliquant tout au long de l’année scolaire.

Our mascot, “Granino”, which means “Little Grain”, will tell children through the online modules how an ear of wheat grows from seed and how, thanks to various tricks and specific farming techniques, it is possible to continue to cultivate while respecting nature.

Schools participating in the project will receive a monthly module that explains the different stages of sustainable wheat cultivation until harvest.

THE PROJECT HAS TWO STAGES
DIRECTLY ON THE GROUND!

The first meeting, scheduled for October, will be on the theme of sowing; the pupils will be able to touch the earth and sow as people did in the past.

At the second meeting in May, they will be accompanied by an expert beekeeper who will help them understand the importance of biodiversity by listening to the “music” of a live hive.
